William Carinder

William Albert Carinder, 87, of rural Caney, Kansas passed away at Pleasant Valley Nursing Center in Sedan, Kansas on Tuesday, August 28, 2018. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of life service will be scheduled at a later date.

William "Bill" Albert Carinder was born on September 28, 1930 on the Conley Ranch in Washington County, Oklahoma to William A. and Margret J. (Simpson) Carinder. Bill graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1948. While in school he met the love of his life, Evelyn Freidline. The two married on September 18, 1949 in Caney, Kansas. Bill was a woodworker and carpenter for several years around the Caney area and helped build the houses of his children. Bill went to work for Phillips Petroleum in Bartlesville, OK in 1961, where he eventually retired. Through the years, Bill was a member of the Jay Cee's Club, Arrow Club and scout leader for the local Boy Scouts. He truly enjoyed being around family as Sunday dinner was hosted every week. Bill also find enjoyment hunting, gardening and raising Limousin Cattle, and chickens on his farm west of Caney. After retirement, Bill and Evelyn joined a camping club where they travelled the United States and truly enjoyed the friendships they made over the years. You could always find Bill sporting a pair of suspenders or hat that was a conversation starter. In Bill's later years, he spent his time moving dirt and landscaping the farm.


Bill is preceded in death by his parents, William A. and Margaret J. (Josie) Carinder, son, Everett Carinder, sisters, Ethel Dunn, and Naomi Harriman.

Those left to cherish Bill's memory, wife Evelyn Carinder of Sedan, KS, daughters: Wilma Rogers of rural Caney, KS, Jane Hartley of rural Caney, KS, Susan Riles of Acworth, GA, Ginger Larkin of Caney, KS, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
