Robert Artherton

Robert Lee (Buddy) Artherton, 86, passed away on December 6, 2017 peacefully surrounded by his three daughters.
Buddy was born on November 25, 1931, in Peru, KS to Leo and Leona (Wadsworth) Artherton. He spent his early years in the Peru and Tyro area until he moved to Caney as a teen. He graduated from Caney High School with the class of 1950.
Buddy Married Billie Jean Rogers on November 25, 1953. It was from this union that he became the proud father of his "three girls". Buddy and Billie Jean later divorced.
Buddy worked as a painting contractor for Bob McGinnis until he retired. He then spent his time caring for his home, visiting with family, keeping up with the sports scores, and going for his daily drives.
Buddy is survived by his three daughters; Brenda Jones of Caney, KS, Teresa and Bernard Mantooth of Dewey, OK, and Sherry Wealthall of Lawrence, KS, 7 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and 3 honorary grandchildren, his brothers; Charles Artherton of Caney, KS and Richard and Deloris Artherton of Wyandotte, OK.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Gary Artherton, sister Carol Artherton, and son-in-law Tom Jones.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 5 pm to 7pm at Potts Chapel in Caney, KS. Funeral service will be Monday, December 11, 2017 at 2 pm at Potts Chapel in Caney, KS. Burial will follow at Peru Cemetery. Memorials may be left in his name to the Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice. Online condolences can be left at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.
