Ralph Gene Burris, 56, of Havana, Kansas completed his life peacefully surrounded by his loving wife Terri, daughter Rachel and family on October 26, 2019 at 12:04 a.m. at St. John Medical Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.  Ralph was born on November 26, 1962 in Caney, Kansas to John Burris and Shirley Robison Burris. He was raised in Havana, Kansas and attended Caney Schools.  Ralph worked most of his life in the oil fields and then joined his father at Dixon Industries as a machinist, retiring with Cessna Aircraft.

On August 29, 1990 he became a daddy to Rachel Elizabeth Burris with Sheila Smith. Then on June 13, 2009 he was united in marriage to Terri Erbe. Ralph was a member of God’s Lighthouse of Prayer in Peru, Kansas.

Ralph had a farm outside of Havana where he enjoyed raising Black Angus cattle, quilts and attending auctions. Ralph was a staunch supporter of the Havana Veteran’s association. One of his favorite pastimes was attending the yearly auction, benefitting the Veteran’s and having a bidding war with Gary Gorby for the quilts that were being sold. Ralph was known for his many stories and sense of humor. He never met a stranger.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife Terri, daughter Rachel Eytcheson (Nick) and bonus daughter Brandi Honey (Jon) as well as eight grandchildren, George, Tyler and Kala Honey, Cannon and Cadence Ysbrand and Alexiah, Madi and Kimber Eytcheson and two great grandchildren Brayleigh and Kaysleigh Honey. Along with brothers John Jr., Bill, Stephen and Jeff and sisters Donna Burris and Cynthia Salgado and extended family members and good friends. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers David and Luther.

Visitation will take at Potts Chapel in Caney on Thursday, October 31, 2019 with the family greeting friends from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas on Friday, November 1, 2019 at 1:00 PM. Graveside services will follow at the Havana Cemetery. Memorials can be left in Ralph’s name to the Havana Veteran’s Association, memorials can be left with Potts Chapel.
