Caney

Patty June Magee entered her heavenly rest April 27th, 2022, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Patty and her twin sister, Betty, were born June 16th, 1941, to Roy and Dorothy (Brittain) Shaver. Born and raised in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Beginning her life’s purpose of being a loving mother in 1968 and welcomed two boys Lee and Keith with her first husband; she spent much of her life caring for her children, their friends, and her community. They later divorced.

Patty met the love of her life, Larry Magee, in September 1974 and after spending the first date laughing and sharing the love for their respective children, decided they needed to join forces and were married a week later. Patty never hesitated to love Larry’s four boys as her own and they quickly added a daughter to their pack of boys.

Patty’s caring nature was highlighted in her work in the nursing field in Shawnee, Oklahoma and as a Registered Nurse at the Sedan City Hospital. She later changed careers and worked as the head janitor at Bowring School in July of 1981 and worked for the school until her youngest child was in high school. She then returned to the nursing field working in numerous nursing homes and in home health.

Patty was proud to take part in her youngest children’s school days, participating in PTA, volunteering at basketball tournaments and the school carnivals, acting as room mom, and any other activities she could lend a hand to. She is still remembered today by many of her children’s classmates for her fun and delicious homemade treats.

Patty is a two-time survivor of breast cancer and used the struggles with her own health to better be able to serve her patients.

Larry passed away December 18th, 2010, and Patty found love and healing with her puppy, Sam. He was her companion until she passed away.

In her free time, Patty spent time reading and later listening to audio books, completing crossword puzzles, and crocheting, and sitting back and taking in each moment she could with her children and grandchildren.

Patty will be lovingly remembered by her family: Sons, Roger (Niki) Magee, Rodney (Denise) Magee, Richard (Penny) Magee, Lee (Christina) Hofstrom, Keith (Lori) Hofstrom, daughter Penny (Joe) Adams, daughter-in-law, Kristi Magee, numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, sister Geneva Green, her sister-in-law Betty Horton and cherished friends Sue and Ann.
