Leonard Cunningham

December 13, 1967 — April 6, 2019

Leonard Ray Cunningham, 51, of Tyro, Kansas, entered rest on April 6, 2019 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 10:00am at the Tyro Christian Church in Tyro, KS. Visitation will be Wednesday, April 10th from 1:00-7:00pm, with family greeting friends 5:00-7:00pm at Potts Chapel.
Leonard was born on December 13, 1967 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Patricia McOsker and Jim Bruce. Upon his mother's death he lived with his grandmother for a short time and then relocated to his forever home with his Aunt Darlene, who quickly became "Mom". He attended school in Caney, Kansas where he graduated from Caney High School in 1986. Leonard was very active in wrestling and journalism during his time at Caney High. He qualified for state wrestling two years.
Following high school, he attended Labette Community College on a wrestling scholarship before working at Acme Foundry and later Amazon in Coffeyville until they closed. He worked in the aerospace industry first at Cessna, then Spirit and called back to Cessna where he continued to work until his passing. He was an adventurer and loved to try new things. One of his passions, besides anything that involved his children, was playing guitar and singing.
Leonard married Stephanie Butler and they welcomed his first daughter, Dallas Paige on June 17, 1993. They later divorced. He married Cheryl Foster on August 13, 1999. To this marriage Cole Raye was born on April 6, 2000 and Raygan Anne on July 6, 2001. They later divorced. He married Mitzi Houser in 2012 and they later divorced. At the time of his passing Leonard was happily enjoying and sharing his life with Marilyn Burton and her son T.J.
Leonard is survived by his parents, Darlene and Marvin Daniel of Caney, Kansas; stepmother, Sylvia Bruce; daughter Dallas Paige of Tyro, Kansas; son Cole Raye and daughter Raygan Anne of Independence, Kansas; brother Kenneth McOsker of Caney, Kansas; brother James Cunningham and wife, Teri, of Tyro, Kansas; brother Ron Cunningham and wife, Jeanine, of Tyro, Kansas; brother Ernie of Midwest City, Oklahoma; sister Pam Schultz and husband, Fred, of Independence, Kansas; sister Sherri Melander and husband, Steve, of Tyro, Kansas; sister Cindi and husband, Gary, of Tyro, Kansas; sister Debi Bruce of Midwest City, Oklahoma; sister Dallas Renee of Houston, Texas; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins who all adored him. He was preceded in death by his mother, Patricia Irene and father, Jim Bruce, grandparents, Oscar and Annie Breeden, and former wife Stephanie.
