Judith Phillips

January 11, 1934 — October 29, 2022

Caney, Kansas

Judith Ann (Nay) Phillips, 88, passed away at The Journey Home in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Judith was born in Dearing, Kansas to Eula Francis (Dolly) and Ellis Roby (Red) Nay on January 11, 1934. She graduated from Caney Valley High School in 1952 and then married Lawrence Daniel (L.D.) Phillips on June 6, 1956. The two started their lives together in Virginia before settling in Caney. They had three daughters, Kathi, Karen, and Anissa.

She prided herself with being an at home mom and housewife until her husband passed away in 1980. At that point she went to work at Phillips Petroleum, where she was employed for 16 years. Judith was a lifelong member of the Caney United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School classes for 40 years. She loved supporting her kids and grandkids at all their sporting events. She had a passion for sewing her whole life. She could make anything! We can’t forget that she loved her lottery scratch offs. Although she never won anything major, she always dreamed of buying a new home and car when she did.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Dolly and Red, her husband, L.D, and brother, Robert “Bob” Nay.

Those left to cherish Judith’s memory include; Kathi and Michael Black of Disney, OK, Travis Black, Cody and Carly Black, of Crescent, OK, Drew and Elizabeth Black of Enid, OK, Karen and Mick Leonard of Caney, Blayne and Jake Shaffer of Caney, Brett and Caitlin Leonard of Lenexa, KS, Anissa and Tom Nelson of Caney, Phillip and Whitney Nelson of Liberty, MO, and Desiree and Marquis Johnson of Independence. She was so proud of her 3 girls and their 7 kids, and her grandkids who were blessed to call her Gram and 3 great grandkids with another one coming in December.
