Juanita Gazaway

Nita Gazaway, 87, formerly of Rangeley, CO, Tioga, ND, Baytown, TX, Cushing and Drumright, OK Humboldt, Caney, and Chanute, KS, and Mountain Home, AR, passed away Wednesday, June 29, 2016, at Medicalodge of Coffeyville.

Juanita Hope May was born February 11, 1929 at Ada, Oklahoma, the last of four children born to Ivan John May and Ruby Dee [[]Brown] May: John, Homer, Truman, and Juanita. She grew up in Ada and Grandfield, Oklahoma, attending schools there, graduating high school from Grandfield.

On December 4, 1955, in Vernal, Utah, she married Charles Thurman Gazaway. To this union was born Kelly Wayne.

She was proud to be a homemaker. Nita enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing cards., and traveling with Charles. Family says she endured cooking and sewing.

She was always a member of a Baptist church, where ever they lived.

Survivors blessed by her memory are her son, Kelly and wife Debbie of Elkhart, TX, two step children: Marianne Ranes of Caney, and Gary Gazaway and wife Linda of Livingston, TX; adopted daughter Ginger Morris and husband Kevin of Henderson, Arkansas; 18 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 7 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles, and her three brothers.

Graveside celebration of life service is scheduled for 3:00pm, Tuesday, July 5, 2016, at Sunnyside Cemetery, Caney, under the direction of Potts Chapel Funeral Home, Caney. Online condolences can be shared at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.

Family suggests memorials to a humane society, or donor's choice, designated in memory of Nita Gazaway.
