John Pfalser

Caney

Caney resident, John Lewis Pfalser, age 65, has entered his Heavenly home on Friday August 16, 2019.

John was born in Anthony, KS to Ivan and Viola (Hager) Pfalser.  From the age of 4, he grew up in Caney, attending the Methodist Church and graduating from Caney Valley High School and Independence Jr. College.  In 1973, John married his high school sweetheart, Ranetta Newby of Copan, OK.  They both went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University.

Following college, John joined the U.S. Army and served for nearly 23 years as a lab technician in the medical service corps retiring honorably in 1998 as a Master Sargent.  His duties included medical research, hospital laboratories, field hospitals, laboratory instruction, and drug testing.  During his military service he also was stationed overseas in Germany, Korea and Honduras.   After his service, he returned to Caney to serve as Lab Manager at Sedan City Hospital for 17 years and continued part time.

John gave of his life not only through the military but in many areas of the community.  His love for history allowed him to be involved in the Caney Historic Society along with educating his family where ever they resided on the historical significance of the area.  He served his church community though out the years from Sunday School Teacher to Elder.   In Caney, he attended the Christian Church and Cornerstone Church.  He then became a member of the Gideon’s International, distributing God’s Word all around the world.

John was preceded in death by his parents, his sister Ann Louise Pfalser and grandson Jaxon Hawk Pfalser.

John is survived by his wife, Ranetta, four children; Amy & Jack Brothers of Burleson, TX; Olivia & Col. Timothy Kreuttner, stationed at Ft. Sam Houston, TX; Clinton & Jill Pfalser of Lindale, TX; Jarrod & Rebecca Pfalser of Bartlesville, OK.  Also 8 grandchildren; Keith & Priscilla Brothers, Calvin Kreuttner, Cannon, Nixon & Austen Pfalser, Cadence Surrett & Henryk Pfalser.  Two sisters, Evelyn Jane Herrington and Jean (Rainey) & Jim Baucom.  Brother in laws, Warren & Linda Newby; Vernon & Nancy Newby and many loved ones.

Services are at Cornerstone Church on Tuesday August 20, 2019 at 1:00 pm and interment to follow at Sunny Side Cemetery in Caney, KS.  Friends are invited to sign the register on Monday August 19, 2019 from 3:00pm to 7:00pm at Potts Chapel in Caney.
