Jerry Ranes Sr., 68, of Caney, Kansas passed away Thursday, December 20, 2018 in Independence, Kansas. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Potts Chapel. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date.
Jerry Leon Ranes was born on June 11, 1950 in Coffeyville, KS to Effie Alice (LaForte) and Paul Ranes. Jerry enlisted in the US Army in October of 1967 and was stationed in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 as a supply clerk. He received his GED in 1989 along with completing the Auto Mechanics course at Coffeyville Vo Tech.
From his first marriage, Jerry was blessed with 3 children: Mary, William (Chris) and Shawn.
On December 4, 1974 Jerry was united in marriage with Elva June Blakemore and he gained 3 bonus children: Rodney, Randy and Tammy. Jerry and June had 2 more children Tracie and Jerry Jr.
Jerry enjoyed fishing, camping, playing games on the computer and spending time with his family.
Jerry is preceded in death by his mother, Alice Ranes, father, Paul Ranes, sister, Pauline Caouette and brother in-law, Roy Lopez.
He is survived by his loving wife June of the home, 5 sons: William (Chris) Ranes and Tracy, Louisville, KY; Shawn Ranes, Louisville, KY; Jerry Ranes and Tiffany, Caney; Rodney Brown, Caney and Randy Brown and Wendy of Sedan. 3 daughters: Mary Ranes, Louisville, KY; Tammy Caldwell, Coffeyville and Tracie Greer and Chad, Dewey, OK. He is also is survived by his mom Margie Ranes, Caney; 2 brothers, Glen Ranes and Hyon Sun of Alaska; Anthony Ranes, Caney, 6 sisters: Carla Lesslie and Roger of South Coffeyville, OK; Laura Winter and Jean of Bartlesville, OK; Pat Lopez of Bartlesville, OK; Kay Merritt of Caney; Debbie Milholland, Caney, KS; Donna Swanson and Wayne of Wichita; and his brother in law Wilfred Caouette of Caney, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.
