Donald Smith

Donald Joe Smith, 79, of Caney passed away on October 18, 2019 in Winfield, Kansas. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel of Caney. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 10:00am at Potts Chapel in Caney, Kansas.

Donald Joe Smith was born on October 22, 1939 in Rural Bartlesville, Oklahoma. He was the son of Arnold Leo and Mildred Louise (Ringer) Smith. He was raised in Bartlesville and graduated from Bartlesville High School. After school, Donald joined the United States Army. He served as a military police officer for 23 years. After retiring, he worked as a police officer for Caney for 17 years.

He married Janette Von Vig and together they shared 5 children. They later divorced. Donald married Ronda Conard on January 2, 1989 in Niotaze, Kansas. They made their home in Caney.

Donald enjoyed watching birds, fishing, golfing, going to the casinos and BINGO. He was a member of the American Legion and the NRA.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, sister Margaret Villereal and brother Jack Smith.

Those left to cherish his memory are his wife Ronda, sons: Timothy Smith, John Smith and Christopher Smith, daughters: Sandra Veach and Shari Murray, step-son Kenneth Wallace, step-daughter Amber Loveless, sisters: Dorothy and Ruby, brother Orville Smith, 14 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
