Charles F. Venable Jr., passed away Monday, January 18, 2021 at his home in Caney, Kansas. Charles was born July 29, 1955 in Oxnard, California to Charles Fate Sr. and Elsie Lanelle. He was raised on a farm in Potter Valley, California and graduated from St. Helena High School. He served our country in the U.S. Army and received his degree from Dr. Anza college while raising two daughters.

Charles worked as a lead engineer and machinist in California before moving to Caney, Kansas in 2002. He retired at age 62 in 2017 from Schlumberger. Charles was a loving son, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He was a loyal friend who was honest and hard working. His favorite sports teams were S.F. 49ers and S.F. Giants. He loved the outdoors, and taking his Chevy truck when he went deer hunting and fishing. He loved fresh seafood, his tool collections and building things for his family. Charles enjoyed cooking with his smoker and BBQ (his signature dish was smoked chicken), loved animals including his dogs Sam, Dorothy, Toto and India. Charles enjoyed tending to his fruit trees and tomato plants, helping neighbors and spending time with family. He was a proud member of the American Legion.

Those left to cherish his memory include two daughters, Shannon of North Carolina and Jennifer of Oregon; and one grandson Cameron of Oregon. Mother Lanelle of Colorado; Step Mother Mickey of California; three sisters Lynda, Annette and Lori and step siblings Shawn & Kelleigh. He was preceded in death by his father.
