Betheen Grubaugh Armstrong, Copan, passed away on December 26, 2020 at the Jane Phillips Medical Center in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Cremation has taken place with Potts Chapel and a service will be held at a later date.

Betheen was born on July 2, 1951 in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was the daughter of Joseph Ellsworth and Esther (Wright) King. She was raised in Colorado and graduated from Widefield High School in Security, Colorado. Betheen had her nursing license and worked in area hospitals. Her father bought the tape with “Daddy’s Little Girl” and would sing it to her whenever she asked.

She married Richard Ernest Armstrong on December 19, 1970 in Colorado. He passed on April 18, 1974.

When Betheen was younger she loved to sing and her first solo was with the Salvation Army and she sang “Jesus Loves Me”. She enjoyed shopping, and spending time with her family. She was the president of the AARP in Coffeyville and was a member of the Tyro Christian Church. Betheen also sponsored two missionary children in India.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Samuel King II and Samuel King III and infant daughter Mia Serena.

Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Rea Kirkland, grandchildren: Richard, Bettina and Samuel Kirkland, sister Dottie Jean-Johnson, and brothers: Joseph King, Jr., Stephen King and Michael King.
