Russell Dean Wade, 84, of Caney, Kansas passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Coffeyville Regional Medical Center in Coffeyville, Kansas. Friends may register on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 1:00 – 8:00 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Potts Chapel of Caney. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, August 17, 2018 at Havana Cemetery Havana, Kansas with Evangelist David Bycrofft officiating. Memorials in honor of Russ may be made to American Legion Post # 138 Caney, Kansas or V.F.W. Post 1022 Coffeyville, Kansas and may be left with the chapel.
Russ was born January 10, 1934 to Elmer and Myrtle (Wyman) Wade in Havana, Kansas. He attended and graduated Independence, Kansas High School and joined the Army and was honorably discharged from the Army in March 1962. Russ was a lifetime member of the American Legion and V.F.W.
Russ married Nancy (White) Kilgore on October 25, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. The couple made their home in Caney, Kansas. Russ worked construction most of his life and retired from Crossland Construction. Russ liked to fish, watch football, play the washer game and watch T.V.
Russ was preceded in death by his parents, seven brothers, and two sisters. Those left to honor his memory include his wife of 59 years Nancy of the home, their two children, Larry (Krista) Wade Caney, Kansas, Cindy ( Jeff) Blakemore, Havana, Kansas; one brother, Don Wade, Havana, Kansas, four grandchildren, Lanie Blakemore, Caney, Kansas, Alyissa (Mike) Swazey, Caney, Kansas, Samantha Blakemore, Caney, Kansas, Heath ( Kari) Wade, Caney, Kansas and two great-grandchildren, Braxton Wade and Saylor Swazey. Russ had two children from a previous marriage Timothy Wade and family, Wellsville, Kansas, Stephanie Wade Surber and family, Wellsville, Kansas To leave a special message for the family please visit Arrangements have been entrusted to Potts Chapel of Caney.
