Dana I. Thompson-Ison

Dana I. Thompson Ison, age 33, of Lamar, Missouri, formally of Independence, Kansas died Tuesday, October 9, 2012 at her home in Lamar.

Celebration of Life Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at the First Assembly of God Church in Independence, Kansas with the Reverend Rex Rictor and Pastor Kenneth Musgrove officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Hope Cemetery in Independence, Kansas under the direction of Potts Chapel of Independence.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 22, 2012 with the family receiving friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Potts Chapel in Independence. Friends can also leave condolences on-line at www.pottsfuneralhome.com.

The family has suggested memorials to the Ison Children Education Fund and remembrances may be left at Potts Chapel in Independence or mailed to P.O. Box 801, Independence, Kansas 67301.

Dana was born January 8, 1979 in Independence, Kansas, the daughter of Marvin and Cheryl (Doub) Thompson.

She grew up in Independence and attended the Tyro Christian School, graduating from high school in 1997. She graduated from Pittsburg State College and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services and later received her Master’s Degree in Social Services from Missouri State University.

Dana was the Director Social Worker for the About Our Kids Youth Development, Director of After School Care and PEP Coordinator in Lamar, Missouri. She always enjoyed working with and helping children.

She is survived by her parents, Marvin and Cheryl Thompson and two sons, Drayton Ison and Kyler Ison, all of Lamar, Missouri and one brother, Jeff Thompson and wife Audrey of Cherryvale, Kansas.

Arrangements are under the care of Potts Chapel of Independence, Kansas.
